Today is Brad Mehldau’s 39th birthday. Brad’s music is a mix of rock and pop wrapped in jazz. I highly recommend checking him out. Here’s a cover of a Radiohead tune.

So here’s what I like about this: Max Tannone at Minty Fresh Beats stays true to the lyrics that Jay-Z, so the music makes sense thematically. He modifies the Radiohead track to fit the lyrics and it gives the track an entirely new feel and meaning. In most cases I prefer the Jaydiohead mash-up to Jay-Z’s original. This is an example of that.

Clearly I think it would great if Jay-Z and Radiohead teamed up to do some of these tracks live. The appeal for a duo show of two of the biggest forces in modern music would be overwhelming. The trick would be to get the two entities to split the profits. One can only dream.
